On September 12th, The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) held the ribbon cutting ceremony to open the lanes to motorists after four years of continuous construction.
The project was an important milestone for the Georgia DOT as it was the largest contract of its kind in Georgia history with a value of $834 million. The project added 29.7 miles of express lanes alongside I-75 and I-575 to the existing Georgia Express Lanes System, and was built to improve the reliability of travel time to the metro Atlanta area.
