The existing embankment had developed sinkholes and settled, leaving the rail unable to support incoming rail car loads. The project consisted of 5 acres of clearing, the removal of approximately 29,000 cubic yards of unstable railroad embankment over a creek. The existing embankment was replaced with 22,300 cubic yards of earth fill, 8,250 cubic yards of rock fill, and 5,800 cubic yards of reinforced fill. The project also included preparing the rail subgrade and installation of sub ballast for the new rail.
